Over the last few years, the UK has experienced some prolonged spells of cold and icy weather. This has resulted in a rise in the number of calls to heating engineers from householders with condensing (high efficiency) boilers, where the condensate drainage pipe has frozen and become blocked with ice.
Draughts cost money, are unpleasant to sit in, can cause illnesses, and make us produce a bad carbon footprint. Older properties are particularly susceptible to losing heat. Tiny gaps around doors, sash windows and chimneys will suck the heat straight out the room, costing you money and wasting valuable energy at the same time. What we really want to do is to insulate our home so it is warm and snug, cost-efficient and environmentally-friendly.
